When You Don’t Know What to Follow

There have been so many seasons in my life where I didn’t have a clear plan—just a quiet feeling that something needed to shift.

I’ve taken big leaps before.

Left jobs. Sold a business I built from the ground up. Said yes to a slower pace of life. Said yes again when it was time to build something new. Most of the time, I didn’t know exactly what I was doing. I just knew I was being pulled toward something that felt more aligned, even if I couldn’t name it yet.

I’ve learned that when you don’t know what to follow,
you can start with what feels good.

Lately, that’s looked like:

  • Playing piano in the quiet moments
  • Baking with my kids and breathing in the scent of cinnamon and calm
  • Diffusing oils, reading stories, tidying slowly
  • Letting my business ebb and flow with my energy
  • Not rushing clarity. Just letting it rise.

There’s a kind of wisdom in listening for what lights you up, even a little. What brings peace. What reminds you of who you are under all the noise.

If you’re in a season of waiting, wondering, or unraveling—you’re not lost. You’re listening. And that matters.

Sometimes the next step isn’t a strategy or a 5 step plan.
Sometimes it’s the gentle tug of something that makes you feel like yourself again.

Follow that.
Even if it’s small.
Even if it’s quiet.
Even if no one else understands it yet.
